The third round of the WRC held in Mexico, saw repeated emotions for the two leading contenders who were the class of the field – both STILO drivers, Sébastian Ogier and Sébastian Loeb.
The victory in a hard fought Mexican rally ultimately went to Stlio driver Sébastian Ogier along with Julian Ingrassia (Ford Fiesta WRC), the five time world champions who launched their attack in the second half of the event. With their Mexican success Ogier retakes the lead of the title ahead of Neuville-Gilsoul (Hyundai i20 WRC), who finished in 6th position. The Emperor of Rallying as he Loeb has become known, thanks to his 9 World Championships, re-entered the world stage as an outright contender. Seb, with the impeccable Daniel Elena beside him as navigator, was in contention throughout but were hampered by a puncture which cost them valuable time. Loeb and Elena will return to the world rally scene at the Rally of Corsica, where no doubt emotions will run high once again. On the podium in Mexico, beside Ogier were two other top Stilo drivers; Sordo-Del Barrio (Hyundai i20 WRC) and Meeke-Nagle (Citroen C3 WRC).
The championship standings sees Ogier leading on 60 points; 2nd is Neuville on 51, Mikkelsen third with 34, Meeke 4th on 32 and Latvala in fifth on 30 points.
